TAIL-END CHARLIE.  Fell-out-of-formation after bomb run (zone-6) and returned alone.  Landed with the #1 engine, ball turret inoperable, the starboard outboard fuel holed and leaking, superficial damage to the port wing, tail section, fuselage, radio and waist compartments and light casualty.  Claims: 1 Fw-190 apiece by Lt. Pyle and SSgt. Mathis and 1 Me-109 by Sgt. Gilbert.

Fell-out-of-formation after successful bomb run (zone-6) due to starboard waist gunner heat out and returned alone.  Landed with starboard waist heating system inoperable, superficial damage to the both wings, tail section, fuselage, radio and waist compartments (40 Peckham Damage) and 1 severe casualty. Claims: 1 Fw-190 & 1 ME-109 by SSgt. Mathis and 1 Fw-190 by Sgt. Harlan.  Temporary replacement: TSgt. Starkey.

Returned with ball turret inoperable, structural damage to the tail, superficial damage to the both wings, fuselage, radio and waist compartments (35 Peckham Damage) and 1 light casualty.  Claims: 1 Fw-190 by Sgt. Jim Decker and 1 Me-109 by SSgt Mathis.

Forced to abort mission (zone-5) due to battle damage over Yugoslavia.  Left formation returned alone with the #2 and #4 engines inoperable, the starboard inboard fuel tank holed, #2 engine oil tank holed, rubber rafts destroyed, and superficial damage to both wings, the fuselage, the bomb bay and radio compartments (70 Peckham Damage) and 2 casualties. Claims: 1 Me-109 apiece by 2nd Lt. Pyle and Sgt. Decker. Replacement: Sgt. Haverty. Temporary replacement: TSgt. Graham.

Claims: 1 Me-109 apiece by SSgt. Jack Mathis and Sgt. Jim Decker.

Returned with starboard flap destroyed, #3 engine feathered, nose compartment heating system inoperable, control cables damaged, structural damage to port tail root (120 Peckham points), superficial damage to the starboard wing, to the nose, pilotsí and tail compartment, 1 casualty and 2 cases of frostbite.  Claims: 2 Me-109s by Sgt.
